Human Resources Generalist

This is a hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside in the District of Columbia metropolitan area and come into the office a minimum of three days each week with two of the mandatory days being Tuesday and Wednesday.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

EEI is looking to add a bright, resourceful, and organized Human Resources Generalist to our team.

Other important responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist include:

  • Performance Management and Employee Relations
    • Develop a performance management framework that details EEI’s cadence of check-ins, process to complete the check-in, significance of detailed documentation, and goal setting
    • Provide professional expertise in the design, development, and implementation of the talent review process that is required to achieve business goals
    • Maintain Cornerstone, EEI’s performance management system including the execution of the performance cycle, staff communication around performance process, and any Cornerstone updates as necessary
    • Provide coaching, counseling, and performance guidance to managers on effective staff management practices
    • Conduct and provide detailed documentation on sensitive employee relations matters through an objective investigation while maintaining high standards of confidentiality where appropriate
    • Conduct exit interviews and track trends to report back to Senior Director, Human Resources
  • Compliance and Learning and Development
    • Maintain expertise of legal requirements for day-to-day management of employees reducing legal risks and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws
    • Educate department heads on EEI policies and procedures and ensure adherence by all staff
    • Develop, implement, and maintain effective learning and development programs for workforce retention, promotion, and succession planning
    • Track number of training requests and type and translate data into insights that drive action plans at appropriate levels
    • In consultation with Senior Director, Human Resources, identify org-wide and individual employee development needs
    • Create targeted learning opportunities on mandatory compliance, soft and hard skills. Report back progress to Senior Director, Human Resources
  • HR Reporting (Headcount, Turnover, and Learning and Development)
    • Create and maintain quarterly HR metrics dashboard and report on the following: current headcount, turnover rate, training expenses per employee

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree preferable in human resources or related field, with five plus years of relevant experience. PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to:

  • Design and implement full-cycle performance management programs
  • Design, develop, and implement association wide talent development programs that cover performance management, talent development, coaching, succession planning, data analytics, and relationship management
  • Curate content in learning management systems
  • Encompass strong business acumen, analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Handle and process information of a highly sensitive and critical nature
  • Have excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Encompass excellent leadership, presentation, and project management skills
  • Demonstrate solid understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedure
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation

The salary range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. EEI also offers an annual performance incentive which is prorated for mid-year start dates. This incentive is typically up to 10% of the base salary.
